So thank *george it is finally Friday. Time for some fashion inspiration that you can try work in on the weekend.
I was mid-cracking open a fresh Peroni to unwind for the day, until our style interns at the HOM office started geeking out over some epic blue street style looks - best way to cure those winter blues is to wear it like a boss!
This super-masculine hue color is best worn blue on blue for an edgy take on the trend, or paired with greys, winter tweeds for sophisticated work look or contrasted with pink/denim for a festive vibe for the weekend.

So it’s that time of the year where SALES are abound - check out the CSquared Summer Sale - and you might be wondering how to take advantage of the end of season prices without buying items that won’t look good when Fall is in full swing.
Our top tip would be to phase out the bright neon Colors of summer with richer hues like teal, burgundy and mustard and pair them with cool neutrals like grey, navy, camel and white. This way you can keep the summer vibe going with a bit of color yet dressing appropriately for those cooler pre-fall nights.
TODAY’S TOP TRANSITIONAL LOOK
For the upcoming transitional season - find, buy and wear Fall’s trendy burgundy blazer, shirt or pants. The rich oxblood color is perfect when the pants are paired with a grey tee and oxfords for a relaxed but stylin’ day look.

The color also translates well to night time after work drinks or a night out should you choose to rock the burgundy suit for a suave and smart Summer-Winter night look.

What do you think of this look?

By now.. all going to Durban July have their looks sorted.
That was the hard part, but with an all-day event as big Durban July, with cameras at every turn, you want to stay looking your best way into the night.
Csquared has a few tips that should have you looking fresh all day:

- Roll up the cuffs on your trousers especially where the area is wet or muddy.
- If you spill on your best pair of white pants, attack the stain as soon as possible to have the best chance of getting it out.
- When you wear a white top, wear a darker colored jacket you can button over your whites to protect them from stains.
- Inspect the pants each time you take them off so you can treat any spills or spots right away, while they’re still fresh.
- White is one color that needs to be washed after each wearing.

- Read the manufacturer’s label to determine how to clean your velvet clothing. Some velvet fabrics, such as knit velvet and fine velvet with plain weave, must be dry cleaned. Others, such as crushed velvet, can be machine washed.
- Never iron velvet. The heat and weight of the iron will crush the velvet pile and leave an imprint. Irons can also scorch the fabric.
- Use a steamer to remove mild creases. Turn the garment inside out and point the nozzle of a steamer at the creases and folds. You may also hang the item in a steam-filled bathroom.
- If you happen to spill a drink on your velvet jacket, do not blot the spot. Blotting velvet when it is wet will press the pile down and ruin the fabric. Instead, shake as much of the moisture off as possible and let the item dry.
- Take damaged velvet clothing to a professional dry cleaner. Hope remains for velvet with stubborn folds, crushed pile and stains. Dry cleaners often have special tools that can lift velvet pile again.

“The best defense is a good offense.” - preventive care is the best way to keep your delicate suede items looking new. These tips will help you with those pesky stains:
- Treat your shoes with protective spray against water damage and stains.
- Keep the shoes away from water as much as possible.
- If they get wet, never dry with heat dryer. Sop the water with towel and let your suede shoes dry naturally. Repair the nap with the suede brush.
- You can also restore the nap with steam. Hold your suede above a steaming pot.
- When cleaning always apply your cleaning product or treatment method on a small area to prevent disasters.
- Cleaning is generally accomplished by either gently brushing with fine brushes (for dry marks) or by lightly soaking with piece of cloth (for wet stains). Never use hard pressure and fast motions.
- It is reported that using a nail file can remove mud and scuff marks on shoes - do so at your own risk.

Over the weekend we were asked on our Facebook page:
Does the waistcoat on a 3 piece suit have to match the blazer/jacket? Or can it be different? i.e different stripes, different colour or will that look out of place?
Csquared Menswear Designer Wayne Govender has the answer-
1. Size
2. Type or design (whether it’s stripes, polka dots, geometrics etc.)
3. Color
4. Intensity (bold or subtle)
You can mix two or more stripes just make certain that some of the colors in each match, and the stripes are not the same size or it will look like as if you have tried too hard, try a waistcoat with small stripes, and bright strong Csquared blazer jacket to complete the look.

The Colour Wheel:

Complementary colours: are those directly opposite one other in the colour wheel. That’s why hunter green pants look great with a burgundy sweater. Blue is opposite of orange so gold, rust, and brown are complementary shades of blue.

This morning we were asked on our Facebook page:
Whats the best color shirt to put on with a mustard trouser and grey jacket and the shoe to go with…
Csquared Menswear Designer Govender has the answer-
This season we are loving mustard trousers for men. This look is easy to wear during the day and carry through into the night.
Wearing mustard trousers with a dark colored jacket or shirt makes this particular color stand out for a more sophisticated evening look. It looks extremely good with a low v white or black tee for a more casual look, if it is coordinated with brown shoes.
Similar impact can be achieved with camel colored jackets and outer wear as shown at the Csquared Menswear show at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Joburg 2012.
Once again, the coordination of brown shoes with the camel color suit jacket/blazer and outer wear completes the whole outfit.
Bottom line! When mustard is worn with monochromatic colors like grey, camels, browns, blacks and white, these colours will make mustard outstanding. - Csquared Menswear Designer Wayne Govender
I am also a massive fan of Chuck Bass from Gossip Girl’s style. He consistently exhibits good use of color in his outfits. Below he wears a mustard jacket, pink shirt, burnt orange pants, brown shoes.

#StylePoint: How to tie a bow tie
The bow tie..the current must-have accessory but how do you tie one? In most instances you can buy one already tied but if that isn’t the case Csquared is here to help and if you can master tying a bow tie then you can pretty much do anything.
1. Adjust the tie’s length so it fits your neck; they are usually easily adjustable. Sizes are usually marked.
2. Lift up your shirt collar and put the tie around your neck so the ends hang down at the front. One end should hang 3.5-5cm (1.5 to 2 inches) lower than the other.
3. Bring the longer end across, behind and over the short end to form a simple knot. Pull snugly around the neck.
4. Fold the shorter end of the bow tie at the widest point where the hourglass shape begins to narrow, to form a bow shape. The bow shape should be in front. Hold the bow in a horizontal position at your neck.
5. Bring the longer end of the bow tie over and in front of the shorter end.
6. Fold the longer end at the widest point to form a second bow and then bring this bow under the first bow.
7. There’s a finger sized hole behind pull the second bow through this gap.
8. Adjust and tighten the bow by pulling the opposite ends until happy with the shape. If you are not happy start again.
Remember practice makes perfect.
