There Will Be Oxblood

Definition of oxblood - Some okes don’t see the difference between purple and oxblood and mauve. SMH..

Here is the DL on that, oxblood is a sophisticated mixture of red and brown without the purple undertone.

It is essentially a warm color and suits almost every skin-tone, and is especially flattering for darker skin tones.

Sessilee Lopez (born January 4, 1989) is an American model with a Dominican and Portuguese background. Her career started in 2004, when she signed with IMG Models. 

Her runway debut was at the Vivienne Tam and Daryl K Fall 2004 shows. Since then, she has walked for Shiatzy Chen, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Hermès and several other established fashion houses. She has appeared in editorials for American, Italian, French, Japanese and German Vogue, V Magazine, W Magazine, Allure, i-D, Dazed & Confused, Marie Claire, Numéro, Swedish, American and French Elle, Spanish and American Harper’s Bazaar.

She has signed contracts with Benetton and ckOne. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for Gap Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, Barneys New York, GAP, Benetton, ckOne, Macy’s, Levi’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, DKNY, Nordstrom, Adidas, H&M, H by Halston and Uniqlo.

This past Wednesday night some of the sexiest women in the world including Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio, Candice Swanepoel and Adriana Lima gathered in NYC to walk down the runway in nothing but their lingerie…yes nothing but Lingerie!!

It’s only right that we share all this sexiness with you gents. It was hard work going through all the images - not that we are complaining- but these are our favorites from the night…happy Friday!

Monrose began her modeling career in 2010 at the age of 18, when she was discovered by Your Angels Models, a local modeling agency in her native Martinique. Just weeks after signing with Your Angels Models Monrose began working with Wilhelmina in New York and Silent models in Paris.

After her first runway season Monrose was named a top 10 new face by Style.com, Models.com, and COACD. In July 2011 Monrose left Wilhelmina for Silent models, which now represents her in both New York and Paris.

Debuting during the S/S 2011 collections in New York, Monrose has since walked the runway for top designers including Michael Kors, Bottega Veneta, Lanvin, Miu Miu, and Yves Saint Laurent.

Arlenis Sosa, born May 7, 1989 is a Dominican model. She is the current spokesmodel for Lancôme and appeared in the 2008 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

She moved to New York when she finished high school. Arlenis was discovered when she was walking with her family, and designer Luis Menieur (her mother’s agent) complimented her and told her she could be a model. In March, she just walked into Marilyn Models and was signed on the spot.Two weeks after she signed, she booked her first editorials for major magazines Vogue and Vogue Italia. 

She has since been featured in editorials and articles in American, Italian, French, Teen, Spanish, and German Vogue, Allure, Elle, Interview, i-D, American and Spanish Harper’s Bazaar. Her runway debut was at the Banana Republic F/W 08, and later walked for the Dior Resort show, and opened for Oscar de la Renta. She dove head-first into the fashion industry. “Anna Wintour sent me to the Met ball the first week I arrived in New York - I felt like Cinderella!”

Sosa has walked for some of the most prestigious designers and Fashion Houses in the world, including Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, John Galliano, Emanuel Ungaro, Hussein Chalayan, Alexander Wang, Jean Paul Gaultier, Hermes, Bottega Veneta, Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Tsumori Chisato,Jason Wu, Carlos Miele, Derek Lam, Isaac Mizrahi, Matthew Williamson, Narciso Rodriguez, Ruffian,Tadashi Shoji, Iceberg, Mariella Burani and Diane von Furstenberg. She also participated in 2008’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for David Yurman, Topshop, Polo Ralph Lauren, Express, Lancôme, and GAP. Sosa, who is known for her full lips, became the face ofLancôme in September 2008.

According to Forbes, Kebede was the eleventh-highest-paid top model in the world in 2007.

Desert Flower by former supermodel Waris Dirie. The film recounts Dirie’s childhood in Somalia, her rise to stardom and subsequent awareness campaign against female circumcision. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and received a standing ovation. Kebede has also had minor roles in two films: The Good Shepherd and Lord of War.

Its that time of year when designers reveal what we will be wearing come Spring/Summer2013. Over the coming weeks we will be following all the S/S 13 shows and picking our fav looks from the runways of New York, London, Paris and Milan. 

Next summer, it appears we will be done with the bright, bold colours of 2012, and we will be wearing a lot more muted tones. While blues and yellows are still popular, it seems they won’t be as bright which we know some will appreciate. 

Shorts will still be very popular although looking at runway images some are a little shorter than past seasons and this will be for the brave man to wear.

Fit as always remains tailored, slim cut yet relaxed for S/S13. 

We have put together some of the looks we are looking forward to seeing on the streets come S/S13 from New York Fashion Week.

Runaway Images

The inaugural London Collections: Men took place over the weekend with 48 catwalk shows and presentations and we were treated to all kinds of exciting menswear trends for Spring/Summer 2013.

British menswear designers showcased a mixture of transparent florals and detailed paisley prints accessorized with quilted handbags and coloured briefcases during the three-day London show.

We picked some of our favorite looks from the runways:

Richard James

This collection is all about color.

Tangerine and electric blue two-piece linen suits, tailored shorts falling just above the knee, were particularly suave looking they had us longing for summer parties on rooftops.

Bit it wasn’t all bright colors though there were mellow candy flosses, greys, blues and whites that also made an appearance on the runway.

And color wasn’t just limited to the clothing. There were shimmering loafers in pink, violet and blue, ties and pocket squares in muted complementary tones as well.

E-Tautz

We cannot lie it was the sharply cut cape in fuchsia and the duck egg-blue trench coat that caught our attention when going through images from E-Tautz runway show. Those two pieces had us sold but there was more…

The Collection also comprised of dapper double-breasted suits, paired with pleated shorts, striped ties in cream, blue and pink, travellers’ hats and, above all, a scorchingly-yellow plethora of shorts, formal trousers and shirts. 

Hardy Amies

For the launch of Hardy Amies’ new, more accessible London diffusion line, mannequins stood on display at 14 Savile Row in a salon-like environment.

There were military style pieces in khaki, navy and charcoal which were a nod to the trench coat form or flirting with the idea of a parka - which we like a lot.

The double-breasted suits, something of a Hardy characteristic, were paired with the obligatory “HA”-initialled pocket square or a printed silk shawl sprucing up the neckline.

Our favorite of the collection is the Hardy Amies London dinner suit (R) with its sophisticated satin lapel a definite insignia of importance.

Jonathan Saunders

This collection was the perfect combination of sharp tai­lor­ing and a lively mix of prints and col­ors.

We liked the geometrical patterns - stripes, dots and tiny rectangles. Pinstripes added a sense of formality - wide apart and colour-blocked in black and white or olive and black, they appeared chameleonic in sharply-cut suits. 

Sharp nar­row trousers were the per­fect com­ple­ment to smart knitwear each perfectly crowned by iconic Bowie sunglasses. 

Oliver Spencer

Models wore grey linen suits rolled-up hi-lighting the collections slim-fit of the tailoring. Shapes were simple, with detailing coming in the form of rough wooden buttons, patchwork pockets and the perpetually turned up trousers.

A vibrant palette, color-blocked with panels of black and navy, navy and army green and intense blood-red with several hues of electric blue really impressed us.

Matthew Miller

With sharply tai­lored trim suits were cut sharp and printed with numbers and symbols around the sleeves and pockets, this collection was simple yet perfectly stylish. 

The colours were limited to a greyscale palette but this did not hinder to the stylish simplicity of the collection. Miller modified the tai­lored suit for the more adven­tur­ous by creating a sleeveless waistcoat-like suit jacket.

We particularly liked the white shirts that were detailed with a cutout design, the pattern showing relief from the pieces underneath the shirt as though embossed like paper.

YMC

This collection was inspired by early the 1960s west coast surf cul­ture and late 1980s casuals and featured relaxed sil­hou­ettes in silk rayon, coated linens and soft cot­tons. 

Unstruc­tured tai­lor­ing in earthy neu­trals and pas­tels con­veyed a sense of easy dress­ing wit the floral print adding to the beachy feel.
