This year’s Met Gala theme was “PUNK” and chaos.

While the ladies had more style leeway to express this theme, we’re pretty glad that the A-List men kept it modern, dapper and clean cut.

With the theme we expected the punk 90’s throwback of plaid and the now on-trend tartan. 

Our picks of best dressed men:

• Gerard Butler in Classic Tuxedo from Dolce & Gabbana

Classic, modern lapel shape, matt black and very fitted. Hallmarks of a great suit.

•  Nikolaj Coster- Waldau - Jaime Lannister’s fashion GAME Was definitely on point. The game of thrones actor was wearing a Brunello Cucinelli tuxedo.
• The midnight blue color is a trendy departure from black yet still luxuriously sophisticated.

• Darren Criss from GLEE fame wore a custom Richard Chai suit with perfect plaid print with green and blue hues.

Went perfectly with the theme. He looks youthful and edgy.

WE really dig the black tie on black shirt vibe (we’re seeing it everywhere and going with the “Mono-Color” block trend where you wear one color head to toe in different textures).

• At the 2013 Met Gala, Psy wore a red and black micro-checked tuxedo jacket (CROPPED - which is so clever styling because the man is short and adds illusion of height to his frame) over a white shirt and black pants complete with his signature bow tie and sunglasses.

• Kanye West in Givenchy. The high neck shirt and simple yet effective black suit just makes the man look like an dope version of a cooples ad. Meaning = He nailed it.

• Tom Brady - Sure, I mean who need to try when you have a super model on your arm. But.. Tom brings the fashion guns blazing and embraces the PUNK theme with color. Blue suits are a huge trend for 2013 in menswear.

Tiger Woods - Brother has game, but definitely not in the fashion courts.

The boxy jacket and clunky pants remind us of the bad parts of the 80’s and awkward scenes from Glengarry Glen Ross.

Emmy Awards Redcarpet Images

Five-foot ten-inch stunner Noemie Lenoir (pronounced “Linwah”) hails from the equally breathtaking town of Versailles, just outside of Paris, France. The daughter of a French father and a mother from a small island off Madagascar, Noemie has, as a result, always had an alluring, international look.

For a model, sexiness is practically a job requirement, and Noemie Lenoir is hardly lacking. Her knockout figure can be seen in her multiple Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoots, and she can be just as fetching playing up an untamed and savage look or a demure and stylish one, as she can when she’s getting wet ‘n’ wild.

At the same time, Lenoir’s youth helps her keep that fresh-faced innocence that can tone down any oversexed ensemble, yet still somehow makes her all the more alluring.

As far as modeling goes, Noemie Lenoir has pretty much done it all. She has appeared in everything from fashion mags such as Allure, Elle, British Elle, Glamour, Mademoiselle, Marie Claire, and Interview, to the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2000 and 2001 Editions and the New York Times Magazine.

Plus, she has done ads for the Gap, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren Jeans, Pantene Europe, the Victoria’s Secret catalog, and L’Oreal. Almost overnight, Lenoir has become an immediately recognizable model and has been chosen to do exclusive modeling for such top designers as Gucci.

However, despite a recent foray into the movies, taking a role in the French-language Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre in 2002, Noemie Lenoir remains relatively unknown outside the world of designer fashion; so perhaps she hasn’t quite earned the title of “supermodel” just yet.

When she’s home in New York, Lenoir also likes to get plenty of exercise. To stay in shape, she swims whenever she gets the chance. Also an animal lover, Noemie Lenoir is an experienced equestrian: She often rides a horse named Boston at the Chelsea Equestrian Center on Manhattan’s West Side. Lenoir loves riding because, she says, it brings her closer to nature while clearing her mind and relaxing.

The rest of Lenoir’s time is spent doing one of her favorite activities: shopping. She’s especially fond of shoes, handbags and pants, and carries around her sunglass collection (more than ten pairs) with her when she travels. As for what’s in store for the future, Noemie speculates that she might even end up working in another area of the fashion industry, but for the moment, she says, “I’m not worried about that.”

Tian Yi is a model from China. She was discovered by Fusion Models (NY) on the website of Models.com in 2011. Her first season (S/S 12) in New York was immediately a success.

She has walked in fashion shows for 3.1 Phillip Lim, Vera Wang, Arise African Fashion Collective, Marc Jacobs, Tibi, Katya Leonovich, Emerson, Jen Kao, Rachel Zoe, Helmut Lang, Mandy Coon, Sally Lapointe, Jenny Packham and Elie Tahari.

She also did campaign work for Vera Wang.

She has appeared in editorials for i-D, Vogue China, Metal, Elle Vietnam, Vestal and 1- Magazine.

With high cheekbones, legs for days and a smoldering stare; the girl looks sophisticated.

Natalya Sergeyevna Polevshchikova, shortened to Natasha Poly is a Russian model born July 12, 1985.

Natasha has the chameleon-like ability to transform her facial expressions and is also well known for her recognizable runway walk and signature pose.

Poly is featured in the 2011 Pirelli Calendar photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. She is also featured in the 2012 Pirelli Calendar photographed by Mario Sorrenti.

It’s Natasha’s deep-set eyes and sculpted cheekbones that really make her stand out among the crowd.

Friday night saw the who’s-who of fashion and media gather at the exclusive The Reserve Restaurant and Nightclub in Cape Town for the Csquared x ThirtySixMan Midnight Express Fashion Show. 

As we sat going through the images from the night, we noticed a lot really well dressed people were in attendance. We felt these fold needed a special mention:

• Ryan Jared Ali, Editor of The Curator: Ryan kept it clean, simple and elegant. This is the look to go for if you are going to be front row at shows!

• We are not quite sure who this young man is but we have to give him points for style. The flower detailing on his jacket lapels brings some color and individuality to the outfit. We also like his hanging bowtie which am sure we will be seeing a lot more of come summer.

• The perfectly tailored three piece suit!!! You can never go wrong with that and Shikar Mothilal (first gent on left) is rocking this one. This is how you wear a suit gents.

• The gents behind ThirtySixMan - Neil Doveton and Willem Jacques looked dapper in black. We liked Willem’s trendy gray jacket lapels matched with the yellow pocket square, while Neil accessorized his Csquared suits with hints of blue.  

• Elrico Bellingan from Luxo blogis one of our favorite looks from the night. We like the detailing on his jacket, the blue rimmed specs that perfectly compliment his bow tie, he looked suave and definitely bought a touch of elegance to the night.

• Blogger Jerri Mokgofe’s scarf needs its own stylish mention!! What an accessory! With something as dramatic as this you do not need anything else, it is the ultimate statement accessory and we like, we like alot!

• We love it when people use accessories in a new way. Monde Mtsi from The Renasissance Men decided not to wear his tie in the traditional way to show off the paisley design at the end. On first glance on the night we thought he was wearing an ascot but soon realized he had knotted his tie in a stylin’ unique way and he had a key pinned to his breast pocket another unique accessory.

One of our favourite superheroes is returning to the big screen this month fully kitted out in bespoke Armani suits.

The suave Bruce Wayne played by Christian Bale, will appear in two-button notch-collar suits in charcoal pinstripe or gray glen plaid, with the customized label: “Giorgio Armani for Bruce Wayne.” 

In addition to dressing Bale, the Italian designer worked with costume designer Lindy Hemming to outfit costars Gary Oldman, Michael Caine and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and to provide accessories for leading lady Anne Hathaway.

“In the lexicon of superheroes, it’s an honor to be associated with such an intriguing character as Bruce Wayne,” Armani said, adding that he sought to project “strength and consistency in Wayne’s edgy, mysterious world.”

“We had established Wayne’s elegant tailored look in contrast to his iconic Batman persona,” said Hemming. “Giorgio Armani’s luxury suiting continues to offer the perfect visual look for him.”

Armani previously worked on Bruce Wayne’s wardrobe in 2008’s “The Dark Knight.”

We look forward to seeing Bruce Wayne stylishly do his thing next week when The Dark Knight Rises hits local screens.

As our Csquared man-on-the-ground, we asked #TOPSWAG Style Icon Winner Mvelo Ncube to share his thoughts on the looks and trends from this years Durban July…here’s what he had to say;

This past week saw the great annual migration by the who’s who in the S.A entertainment and fashion to Durban…bags and suit / dress cases all in hand. A horse race event more popularly known for the fashion and who wore what by whom than the actual horses.

Some took the theme, “A Material World”, more seriously than others, encompassing the use of synthetic fibres and promoting the going green natural and organic initiative. 

For those of us who weren’t as brave to but wished to show an understanding of the theme a floral printed shirt and a green jacket.

The event is formal in nature, and the theme doesn’t necessarily have to be followed, best dressed guys there were in classic black, navy or grey suits. Musician Stoan went for a Csquared Checked Jacket and Da Les who was also dressed by Csquared wore a white shirt and navy suit. 

And there are those who missed the memo and thought it was the “Dubai July” and some whose main purpose was just to arrive.

All in all it was a great day, with beautiful people (mostly), heres to the next !!

Namibia born Behati made her debut in 2005 as an exclusive for Prada and Miu Miu. Since then, Behati has gone on to work with the cream of the high fashion crop - Marc Jacobs, Vogue Italia, Paolo Roversi.

There is a girl next door quality about Bhehati which we are absolutely drawn to.

And yet this lady can still do High fashion just as beautifully…

And though she’s treaded on some of the word’s most coveted runways, she still looks forward to someday returning to the grassy savannahs of Namibia. “I love Africa,” Behati has said. “My heart’s there.”

We think this small-town girl has proven she she has big-world talent.
