  • CSquared Style Inspiration: Burgundy / Oxblood Suit To Ace The Transitional Season

So it’s that time of the year where SALES are abound - check out the CSquared Summer Sale - and you might be wondering how to take advantage of the end of season prices without buying items that won’t look good when Fall is in full swing.

Our top tip would be to phase out the bright neon Colors of summer with richer hues like teal, burgundy and mustard and pair them with cool neutrals like grey, navy, camel and white. This way you can keep the summer vibe going with a bit of color yet dressing appropriately for those cooler pre-fall nights.

    TODAY’S TOP TRANSITIONAL LOOK

For the upcoming transitional season - find, buy and wear Fall’s trendy burgundy blazer, shirt or pants. The rich oxblood color is perfect when the pants are paired with a grey tee and oxfords for a relaxed but stylin’ day look.

The color also translates well to night time after work drinks or a night out should you choose to rock the burgundy suit for a suave and smart Summer-Winter night look.

What do you think of this look?

Any other questions around what to wear during the transitional season of pre-fall? Hola at us @CSquaredSA.

Dont forget to take advantage of the CSQUARED SUMMER SALE at CANAL WALK On NOW.

  • CSquared Style Tips: Summer Weddings Style Inspiration

Wedding season is upon us! For the ladies there is always an abundance of choice, but for men it would appear the opposite is true.

Lets just start by saying jeans are not a suitable trouser (even if you wear black jeans) for a wedding. Many men make the mistake of thinking a formal suit means black trousers and jacket, a white shirt and a tie.

    StyleForum | Men’s Suits

Now although there is nothing wrong with this look, and it is indeed a very smart option, there are other routes to go down. Adding a spot of colour here and there, or even ditching the jacket in favor of a waistcoat, spices up your outfit and gives you a sophisticated and fashionable look.

    CSquared Menswear

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

If you want to take a side step from the traditional black suit, but not sure which colors will work together. A beige suit feels quite Gatsby-esque in its appearance, which thanks to Baz Luhrmann’s new take on the film is a popular trend at the moment.

    StyleForum | Men’s Suits

If you don’t want to step too far out of your comfort zone, then a dark navy suits is more practical. Standout by taking a traditional look and giving it a modern and elegant twist. A patterned pocket square or tie gives a much more fashion conscious look to the outfit without having to stand out too much with colour.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

However, if it is a colored suit you are after, pick one that offers a nice injection of colour without being so bold it attracts lots of attention (you do not want to outshine the bride!)

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

Investing in a new suit jacket is a good way to spice up an outfit without having to shell out for a whole suit. A dinner jacket with contrast lapels and pocket flaps is a sophisticated way of injecting pattern and colour into an outfit.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

If you already have the perfect pair of black trousers then a grey jacket is a great accompaniment. The contrast in colours is an ideal way to put a fashionable spin on a traditional look.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

At weddings many men shed their jackets before the food is served, and they warm the backs of chairs for the rest of the night. A way to avoid looking like you’ve just finished a day at the office and keep a smart and dapper look, especially at a hot summer wedding, is to opt for a waistcoat instead.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

A white shirt is a common choice for a formal occasion, but a colored or patterned shirt shouldn’t be overlooked.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

Avoid a wide tie or a bow tie unless you are part of the bridal party, skinny ties are a fashionable and popular choice, and a nice alternative should you have to wear a tie daily.

CSquared Menswear Ties | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

Top all this off with a smart pair of brogues or loafers and you have a very stylish wedding outfit.

CSquared Menswear Brogues | Avail At Markham & Stuttafords

We hope this has opened up some doors to a brighter, summer wedding wardrobe, and has shown that there are just as many options for men as there are for women, you just need to take the plunge and stay away from the black suit/white shirt combo!

    Happy wedding season.

  • CSquared Menswear Style Inspiration: Gossip Girl’s Chuck Bass

Have you ever wanted to channel the suave sophistication of Gossip Girl’s resident bad boy, Chuck Bass? Would you like to be the target of men’s scorn, the object of women’s desire? Well, who can blame you? He’s Chuck Bass: conniving, cold… and incredibly chic. Even the virtuous among us can’t help but find this Mother Chucker’s wardrobe truly envy-inspiring. Here are 10 of our favourite Chuck Bass looks…

     Every Day is Designer

    image

When you’re Chuck Bass, casual can never mean careless. Whether you’re spending the afternoon at the gentleman’s club or just lounging at home, it’s essential to look sharp at every moment. That means well tailored, well coordinated, and well groomed. You never know who might come calling.
The Suit Life of Chuck Bass
How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinton and Chuck Bass would be great friends. Why? Because they both love three things, above all: hot women, luxury booze, and the perfect suit. So, if you want to embody the Bass in your everyday, take Barney’s advice, and “suit up!” Perfectly tailored and insanely expensive, if possible. Don’t even bother if you’re not going all the way with a tie, bowtie, or ascot. And always a pocket square. Always.
    Layers, Layers, Layers

    image

Your clothes should reflect your enigmatic personality: infinitely and seamlessly layered. Observe this ensemble. Notice how the vibrant blue cuffs and red pants play off the stripes in the shirt, and the muted sweater keeps the brights from overpowering. Everything “goes” without being too forced.
     Earn Your Stripes

    image

Don’t be afraid to mix patterns. Chuck loves stripes, and this clean-cut seersucker look is a perfect example of his penchant for pairing different colors, widths, and angles of stripes.
    Old School Sexy

    image

Borrow a page from a bygone era for a really striking statement. The key? Accessories. Here, the hat, the ascot, and the perfectly polished leather shoe create a classy 1940’s Clark Gable look, which is perfect— because frankly, my dear, Chuck Bass never gives a damn.

    Taste the Rainbow

    image

Color is your constant friend, so you better learn to coordinate. A burgundy blazer with a light pink button-down is the perfect ensemble for mid-morning brunch.
     Pink

    image

You’re Chuck Bass. You’re so comfortable in your masculinity that you shower in a special mixture of scotch and testosterone. That means no color is beyond your fashion domain. A flash of pink can be dapper if not overdone.
    Cover Up Classy

    image

So you’ve suddenly become the youngest CEO in New York City, and you desperately want to be taken seriously by your investors, employeers, and scheming, back-stabbing uncle. What to do? You don’t just mean business you dress it too.

  • CSquared Style Tips: How To Be The Most Stylish Gent At Your Christmas Party

Yes, it’s that time of year again. The shops are stocking up on crackers, mince pies, Christmas puddings, awful music and all the other guff that generally makes Christmas. As you get older its clear that the purpose  of Christmas changes quite dramatically. Once past the age of eighteen, it seems the sole purpose of the Christmas season is to consume as much alcohol as physically possible and how many of us will have to face the dreaded work Christmas party.

The work ‘Christmas Do’ is a bit of a strange event. Beside the obviously delicate balancing act of drinking and not embarrassing yourself, you also need to think about what you’re going to wear. Wearing a suit to the office doesn’t really provide you with the opportunity to showcase your true personal style; you can of course wear snazzy socks, a crazy pocket square or simply be fantastic at matching shirts and ties, but at the end of the day, you’re still wearing a suit, just like everyone else. So the Christmas party can be a good opportunity to show everybody just how well you can dress.

    Burberry Porsum | Fall/Winter Collection

    Key Considerations

With that said, here are a few things to consider:

    • Think about your office – who do you work with? Who is actually going to come? Do you get along with everyone? If things tend to be a little cold, don’t force your most fashion forward looks down their throats. Better to create subtle talking points.
    • Think about their style – how do they dress? Are they likely to be impressed by the more fashion forward elements of your style or would you risk sticking out like a sore thumb?
    • Consider what you are actually doing – is it in the office? Going for a meal and then for drinks?

With all this in mind, tailor your outfit to your situation – there is no such thing as a one size fits all look.

Look 1: Shirt & Jeans & Blazer Combination

Be Dapper | Navy Blazer and Jeans, perfectly tailored

A pair of jeans, a slim fit shirt (white or blue probably) and a fitted blazer is a winning combination whenever you wear it and where-ever you go. If you want to make it that little bit more interesting, try finding a shirt with some added details or with a pattern.

CSquared Menswear | Avail At  Markham & Stuttafords

    Look 2: Utilising Accents

If you do want to show off your fashionable wardrobe, or wear something you know that no one else will be wearing, try to keep things small. Rather than shouting in everyone’s face with your outfit of bold colours, crazy patterns or luxurious textures, inject some interest through your shoes or accessories. A flash of colour at the wrist or something a little different on the feet is a great talking point and will exude just enough fashion forwardness to show off your knowledge and confidence.

    Trashness | Parmigiani Fleurier Pershing

Likewise, a trend cut such as a double-breasted jacket (still in a muted colour) can be a subtle choice that hints you know what you are doing. Should you choose to take this approach with something fairly substantial, like your shoes, keep the rest of your outfit nice and simple – let the shoes do all the talking.

    CSquared Brogues
CSquared Menswear Brogues | Avail at Markham & Stuttafords
    Look 3: Pops of Color

Trashness | Braces x Bow Ties

Because this outfit is quite sharp, you can choose to keep things crisp and slim with Derbies or Oxfords, or on trend with monk straps. Keep things playful – you’ll find an outfit can be drastically altered simply by switching your footwear.
    CSquared Menswear Brogues
CSquared Menswear Brogues | Avail at Markham & Stuttafords
An important thing to remember here is just how formal your trousers are. Be wary of chinos that are too casual as this will change the whole aesthetic and might not suit the tailored upper half. To make sure you don’t experience this, you might find it easier to wear formal navy trousers. If you can afford to, I would suggest you make a statement by wearing a checked or velvet blazer. Just make sure your workmates will appreciate it.

    CSquared Summer Collection 2012

    Look 4: Formal Wear
A few of you will want to wear a dressed down suit. However, if you choose to go down this route, there are a few things to consider… Do you wear a suit every day? Please don’t wear a work suit, go for something bold or something classic but in a more statement colour and/or fabric. It’s worth remembering that not all navy suits look like business suits.
    Trashness | Morris Clothing Sweden

Once you’ve chosen your suit, look for ways to differentiate it from the kind of thing you would wear to work;whether this is through bold accessories, different textures or mixed aesthetics is up to you.

Trashness | Denim x Sport Coat

A denim shirt is a fantastic way to immediately dress down a suit and because it’s blue it will pair with every colour under the sun – you can even dress it up with a bow or knitted tie.

    CSquared Knitted Ties
CSquared Knitted Ties | Avail at Markham & Stuttafords

We hope we have shown you outfits that cover almost every possible situation you could find yourself in. Remember that this is just a guide. It has been designed as a simple source of inspiration and all of the outfits we’ve shown are completely interchangeable – with just a little thought you can adapt them to suit your own purposes and image. By altering just one item, you can create something completely different and all of your own.

  • The Importance Of Having Confidence In Your Clothes

Confidence is one of life’s little essentials – except that it isn’t that little and it is one of the most important things any self respecting man must master. Confidence can mean the difference between you and that job, between you and that girl, between you and pretty much anything. Confidence, it appears, exists only to get in the way but it is also something you need.

    Spring/Summer 2013 | Nox Magazine

Life just wouldn’t work if we didn’t all have a bit of confidence. It takes confidence to step out of your house in the morning; it takes confidence to cross the road; it takes confidence to trust yourself enough to not do something embarrassing during your working day. It takes confidence to do just about everything.

Building your confidence is a life long task. It doesn’t happen over night, but there are many ways you can increase it…

    Building Confidence

Building your personal confidence will make a huge difference to your personality, your maturity and the way you think.

Doing new things is a huge confidence booster. Moving away from home can mature you, taking up a sport or working out regularly will give you body confidence and pushing yourself into doing things that are outside of your comfort zone will make you believe in your own ability.

    Spring/Summer 2013 | Nox Magazine

Unless you are very lucky, confidence has to be earned, it won’t just fall in your lap. But confidence is about so much more than just your belief in yourself, it is also about having confidence in your image and wearing what you are comfortable in.

It cannot be underestimated just how much of an impact confidence in your clothes will have on your prospects, your personality and the way the world perceives you. Knowing you look good will change the way you walk, your posture, your face and the impact that just a glance can have. Building your confidence will help you move forward, it will help you get what you want.

    Have Confidence in Your Clothes

Being happy with your image isn’t restrictive – it applies to everyone, young or old, thick or thin. Creating confidence in your clothes isn’t a set formula, it is individual, just as every person on this earth is an individual. It is a continuous process and it never, ever stops. Whether you are new to the style game or a self professed old hand, there will always be something you want to change or something you need just that little bit more confidence to wear.

    Spring/Summer 2013 | Nox Magazine

We don’t think it’s ever possible to be completely happy with your style. You can be pleased with it, but never completely satisfied. You need to reach a point where you know what you want to buy and know you are not going to waste money on things you don’t need or won’t wear and most of all, know it suits you.

Whether we can ever be truly happy with our style doesn’t mean we should not have confidence in it. As long as you know that you look good, that your clothes work well and that you are comfortable in them, everything is OK. Style development can bubble away undisturbed underneath because you achieved what so many others haven’t –you like the way you dress.

    Choosing your Style with Confidence

To really build confidence in your clothes you are going to have to find the right style for YOU. You need to have a clear idea of how you want to dress, what impression you want to make and where you want to go. A lack of clarity at this stage will result in a lot of wasted time, wasted money and a huge lack of confidence in your wardrobe.

Gentlemen of Leisure | August Man Singapore

Consider your ideas carefully, build up a collection of images that exemplify the style and outfits you like and then take time to think about why you like the look and how it could work for you. Having a collection of images also gives you a reference point for your future purchases. You can see exactly what you need to buy. Pin them on your wall, look at them everyday for a couple of weeks and see if your opinion changes.

Take note of well dressed men you pass in the street, see how they carry themselves and determine what is it about their look that makes it desirable.

Also, DON’T just copy your friends. One, they might not actually be that well dressed, despite what they claim, two, you don’t want to look exactly the same as the people you socialize with, three, you need to pick a style for yourself, not everyone else. Ask for their opinions, but take them with a pinch of salt.

    image

Massimo Dutti June 2012 Men’s Lookbook | FashionBeans

Picking a style is only half the battle, you need to make sure it is exactly the right one for you. This requires you to consider more than just the clothes themselves. Think about your lifestyle, think about your features, your body, the image you want to portray and even where you live. However, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be open to new ideas, so don’t discount something just because it is a bit alternative just make sure it is appropriate to you.

Having confidence in your clothes will make a huge difference to your life. We are, whether we like it or not, a very visual society and those that make the effort will almost certainly get ahead.

  • CSquared Style Tips: The Importance Of Neutral Tones

    Mens Fashion Magazine

Neutral colors can be a constant staple in any mans wardrobe, and not just the usual black, grey and white – there are also various shades of beiges, browns and cream. This is the way to add a bit of variety to what could be quite a dull outfit.

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

If you want to wear these desert tones then mix different shades on top and bottom, try a deep beige shirt with brown linen trousers for a cool summer evening, or pale chino shorts with a burnt orange top.

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

In terms of accessories then go for browns and leather, for example a leather satchel or wooden beaded bracelets and necklaces. Footwear can range from brogues to flip-flops, it depends if you want to look preppy or casual.

    Street Etiquette

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

The beauty of wearing neutrals is that they can be worn over and over again in many different ways, one day you can be wearing a pair of shorts, flip-flops and a cream shirt, then the next you could be wearing that same shirt with some fitted neutral tone trousers, colored blazer and brogues.

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

If you have quite pale skin then try not to wear the shades with tones of red and orange, instead go for stone shades and soft browns; whereas if your skin is darker then you can go for stronger/darker browns and oranges.

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

Desert toned neutrals are the perfect way to add a bit of warmth to the not so sunny summer, so give them a try, but remember that neutral tones can be used throughout the year so make sure you keep them in your wardrobe.

  • CSquared Style Tips: How To Wear Colored Trousers

With winter finally behind us a pair of colored trousers is a great way to brighten the mood as well as your look. They sit well alongside almost anything in your existing capsule wardrobe and can create a striking look when combined and contrasted with heavy-duty clothing and materials.

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Avail Markham & Stuttafords

Inversely, if you’re yet to get on the bright bandwagon, now would be a great time – not only would you be purchasing trousers that would effortlessly see out the summer, but you are investing in a piece that is set to last for plenty of seasons after.

    Pair With: Tailoring

A well-fitted, textured blazer alongside more daring trousers offers a whimsically stylish take on a timeless bit of tailoring. With a pocket square, brogues and tie completing the outfit, it is a look that is both contemporary and almost Dandy-like in appearance.

Mens Fashion Magazine| Summer Fashion:Colored Trousers

    Pair With: Off-duty Casual Wear

Pair with a neutral sweatshirt and a jacket of your choice and you’ve got a quick and easy look that requires minimal effort.

Mens Fashion Magazine| SS12 Mens Colored Trousers

As for footwear, throw on a simple pair of sneakers or boots and you’re good to go. If you feel the need to accessorize, a hat of some sort would cement the casual style.

  • CSquared Style Tips: The Art Of Going Sockless

As with most things when it comes to style, there are a few general guidelines that will help pull off the no-sock look without looking like a fool.

    Trashness | Street Style

Trashness | Tommy Ton at Pitti Uomo

The first of these is to bear in mind your surroundings – i.e. the weather. The Spring/Summer season is the perfect time for going sockless. If it’s blowing a gale and raining outside, its best to wear socks.

The second is to be aware of where you are heading and is probably the most important of the two. A stylish gentleman always dresses appropriately for his intended arrival. For example, heading out for a few drinks with a couple of friends? Skip the socks. Heading off to a black tie event organised by your boss with a couple of investment banking firms? Might want to stick those good old navy’s mate. Knowing where and when to bust out your ankles is everything these days.

The Premium Life | Street Style Milan

But other than those two points guys, why not go without? You may find, not only is it more comfortable but it could help you feel more at ease, which in turn will make you feel more confident in whatever you are wearing that day.

Regardless of whether it’s a navy pinstripe suit or some beat up blue jeans and t-shirt combo, going sockless adds a nice little relaxed nonchalant twist to any look. Besides, like Tom Browne said “ankle is the new male cleavage”. And seriously, who doesn’t like cleavage?

    Formal Sockless Lookbook

Seeing as we are trying to convince you to leave the socks at home more regularly this year, we have compiled some lookbook inspiration for you all. Although most would never consider going sockless as ‘formal’, here are a few outfits that include suiting and an overall smarter aesthetic:

    Casual Sockless Lookbook

Now this is where going sockless comes into its own. Take a look at the  looks below and consider how you can go sockless with jeans, chinos, trousers or shorts this summer:

CSquared Menswear | Avail at Markham, Stuttafords & HOM Store

    Tips & Tricks

If you are new to this whole sockless game, here are a few tips:

    • Wear in your shoes – regardless of what style of shoe you’ve got and the material they are made from.
    • Be Sneaky – If you know that you are going to be wearing a heavy wingtip for a good ten hours straight, then maybe a sock of some kind might be wise? But why not invest in some low-profile loafer socks to keep your ankles free, but your feet blister free.
    • Get Pre-emptive – Although going without socks can be a great feeling, it can do horrible things to your feet. Think about bathing them in hot water regularly and using talcum powder if you have particularly sweaty feet. Actually gents get a pedicure every 4-5 months to make sure they stay their best.

  • CSquared Style Inspiration: How To Dress “Gangnam Style”

You have to be living under a rock not to have heard of a South Korean rapper name Psy who has become an overnight internet sensation with over 220 million YouTube hits with this addictive music video Gangnam Style.

The music video is a satirical take on the posh style of an affluent neighborhood in Seoul called Gangnam. Aside from the equestrian dance moves and the strange sauna scene in the video by far the most important development in the Gangnam story is Psy’s fashion statement. The 34 year-old Korean could certainly emerge as a force in not only transporting K Pop from Seoul to the West, but also the more unusual elements of Asian street style.

Unlike most rappers who tend to typically celebrate over-consumption in their music video, Psy’s motto is “Dress Classy, Dance Cheesy” so instead of over sized gold chains and platinum grills, we’re seeing a South Korean rapper wearing a two toned tuxedo and bow tie.>

    Psy

Whether it’s a day dream come true or a nightmare in the making, Gangnam Style is in fact a viral sensation that is here to stay – until the next viral sensation. Create your Gangnam Style by emulating Psy’s look and following his rule of dressing classy. These are the four key components to Gangnam Approved Style.

    • Full Vivienne Westwood isn’t just for the catwalk

You can spot a Vivienne Westwood shirt a mile off from the trademark brown buttons and, in Psy’s case, the detail of the three strips of buttons down the middle of the garment. He also pairs the white shirt with Westwood drop crotch shorts in beige. Psy wears it with sublime ease as he parades through a bus, a tube carriage and then ultimately performs his infamous dance.

    • Black tie doesn’t always have to be black
Psy has an evident penchant for black tie but in particular for tradition with a twist, as showcased by his array of different colored blazers that he mixes with simple white shirts and black trousers. Gone are the days when the idea of any alternative take on black tie was frowned at - Psy shows it doesn’t matter your shape, size or K-Pop song choice, it can be done with aplomb.

    • Embrace colourful accessories

Whether he’s sunbathing with a glass of coke on a fake beach in a children’s playground or dancing on a speedboat, Psy also knows how to dress down with flair. The orange scarf and pink shorts in the opening shot are very Lacoste at New York Fashion Week, as are the purple trousers at the end of the video.

    • Wear Sunglasses at all times

Nightclub, stables, toilets and foam cannon alley - we haven’t seen this kind of all-weather approach to eyewear since Karl Lagerfeld. Well, with Gangnam Style’s Youtube views soaring, the future is bright…

  • CSquared Style Tips: How To Do Colour Right This Summer

Color gives off a more jovial look/aesthetic and over the last couple of months we at CSquared have encouraged you to embrace color in order to set yourself apart and showcase some true personality. But how do you use color without looking like a fool. The everyday male needs to begin to learn the general rules and start by integrating colors naturally within their current looks.

Ola De Color | GQ Spain

The Faux Pas – Colour Confetti

Outfitting yourself with an unconsidered selection of colors may make you look as if you have no clue as to what you are doing. It is generally not our fault, as menswear has long been dominated by neutrals and traditional pieces. We have really only begun to embrace color within the last 12 months, and it has led to guys utilising some awful color combinations as they are not aware of the basics of color matching or coordinating.

    Color Clash | GQ Japan

Be aware that even if the pieces you wear may look great individually, it does not mean that they are bound to work in any circumstance. We have all seen this happen too often; a great looking piece is ruined by the overall outfit due to color mismanagement.

    Know Your Colors

For a look to work, you first need to know the basics of color. Take additional care on how similar, complementary and contrasting colors combine, and keep a simple color wheel either in your mind or on your smartphone the next time you go shopping.

    The Colour Wheel

Being aware of what colors you have in your wardrobe and taking note the next time you make a purchase will give you a better idea of how to combine colors in an effective manner without going over the top. If you are regularly inspecting your wardrobe and taking an honest approach to where it needs work, then you should be aware of what colors/neutrals currently dominate your wardrobe and this will help sculpt your future purchases to colors that work with your current personal style.

    Know Your Sources of Inspiration

Ola De Color | GQ Spain

While every individual has a particular style and their own personal sources of inspiration, keep in mind that others can be wrong. Looking at how stylists create an outfit, combine colors and textures and wear clothes in general is a very good source of inspiration, but keep in mind that not all they say is gold.

    CSquared Summer Collection 2012

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | CSquared x 36MAN Midnight Fashion Express

Looking at stylish friends and acquaintances can be a great way of picking up color combinations or simple layering techniques but that doesn’t mean it will always be something you can incorporate into your OWN look. You don’t have to copy; inspiration is just that – adapt it for you personally.

    CSquared Summer Collectiom 2012

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | Durban Fashion Fair 2012

    Neutralising Colours

One key way of pulling off multiple bold colors is via a technique known as neutralising, and it can be the KEY principle that makes or breaks your look. A neutralising color is something which cancels out the bolder color, so drawing less attention to it.

    Image

For example, by layering a black cardigan over a bright blue shirt, the black cardigan works to neutralise (and sometimes even cancel out) the effect of the bolder color.

    CSquared Summer Collection 2012

CSquared Menswear | Avail at Markham & Stuttafords

What you need to bear in mind when utilising bold colors is that you should be trying to anchor or neutralise them by integrating neutral layers and key pieces. Many of you will already have the items you need, such as blazers, knitwear, shirts, overcoats and macs, in timeless colors such as brown, grey, black, white and navy. Subtle patterns or graphic prints on things like t-shirts can also draw attention away from bold colors by catching the eye.

    Classic & Minimalist

    CSquared Menswear Summer Collection 2012

CSquared Menswear Summer Collection | CSquared x 36MAN Midnight Fashion Express

An outfit choice that works for a number of occasions is a classic minimalist look. This approach gives you clean lines and incorporates just two or three ‘colors’, which tend to be the classical neutrals such as black, brown, grey and white. Just because everyone is embracing color right now, it doesn’t means you have to – this minimalist approach is timeless and helps create a very neat overall look that works almost every time.

    CSquared Menswear Summer Collection 2012

There is no foolproof way of wearing colors, you have to be willing to experiment and find out what works for you.
