Over the past week, CSquared x36MAN Midnight Fashion Express Show refreshed by Peroni has received some great coverage from the media.

The beautiful ladies at All Things Fashion Africa recorded the whole show, so for those who weren’t able to join us for the debut of The Csquared 2012 Mediterranean Resort Collection.

Blogger Kelly Jepson shared her love for the collection with two ” man-sized” blog posts. You can read the first one here and the second one here.

Skattie What Are You Wearing Blogger Mali said this of the collection

“…what made the show stand out for me was the execution, the boldness and the youthfulness of this range. The use of the colours, the prints and the styling made this feel like a proper range and not a bunch of best selling pieces and new-ish pieces that a designer might put together just to show them off. I also think the range shows a brand that has developed a clear understanding of its market, they are not about totally re-inventing the wheel, but rather exploring current trends and interpreting them in a way that suits their customer and keeps them up to date, whilst attracting a whole new bunch of customers.”

Our good fashion friend Boy in PR’s Lawerance Dube was also at the show and shared his thoughts and images from the show on his blog.

Raw Entertainment included the CSquared x 36MAN Midnight Express Fashion Show in their list of top shows at MBFWCT!!! They said

“As always CSquared put on what can only be described as a spectacular show – the exclusive fashion show marked the 10^th anniversary of CSquared and featured some incredibly fun and colourful designs for S/S 2012. We love the bright colours and combinations of vivid prints and patterns. CSquared’s colourful suede and leather shoes are a must for any fashion forward guy this spring!”

Story Tailor Fashions has been blogging their thoughts on each of the looks from the show on their Tumblr.

“This look has a cool factor which is added by the Minty blazer, look at the contrast between the Orange bow tie, the patterned shirt and the chinos. This Look definitely is a winner this summer”

Life in the age of social media means when ever there is an event like last weeks CSquared x 36MAN Midnight Express Show, we can get followers instant 140 character thoughts on the stylish goings on.

The days leading up to the show were stressful for some, especially @OwethuMentoor as he tried to get giveaway tickets. We were highly entertained by his tweets during the giveaway:

Friday night saw the who’s-who of fashion and media gather at the exclusive The Reserve Restaurant and Nightclub in Cape Town for the Csquared x ThirtySixMan Midnight Express Fashion Show. 

As we sat going through the images from the night, we noticed a lot really well dressed people were in attendance. We felt these fold needed a special mention:

• Ryan Jared Ali, Editor of The Curator: Ryan kept it clean, simple and elegant. This is the look to go for if you are going to be front row at shows!

• We are not quite sure who this young man is but we have to give him points for style. The flower detailing on his jacket lapels brings some color and individuality to the outfit. We also like his hanging bowtie which am sure we will be seeing a lot more of come summer.

• The perfectly tailored three piece suit!!! You can never go wrong with that and Shikar Mothilal (first gent on left) is rocking this one. This is how you wear a suit gents.

• The gents behind ThirtySixMan - Neil Doveton and Willem Jacques looked dapper in black. We liked Willem’s trendy gray jacket lapels matched with the yellow pocket square, while Neil accessorized his Csquared suits with hints of blue.  

• Elrico Bellingan from Luxo blogis one of our favorite looks from the night. We like the detailing on his jacket, the blue rimmed specs that perfectly compliment his bow tie, he looked suave and definitely bought a touch of elegance to the night.

• Blogger Jerri Mokgofe’s scarf needs its own stylish mention!! What an accessory! With something as dramatic as this you do not need anything else, it is the ultimate statement accessory and we like, we like alot!

• We love it when people use accessories in a new way. Monde Mtsi from The Renasissance Men decided not to wear his tie in the traditional way to show off the paisley design at the end. On first glance on the night we thought he was wearing an ascot but soon realized he had knotted his tie in a stylin’ unique way and he had a key pinned to his breast pocket another unique accessory.

On Friday 27 July 2012, Csquared ignited the catwalk with vivid colors, prints, and an array of innovative silhouettes that will define Summer 2012 Menswear. Every piece in the collection was created to evoke the true spirit of summer in the sun.

The Cut & Silhouette:The highlight of the collection was the architectural innovation of the summer suit. The re-working of the traditional pants and jacket proportions added a fresh “slouchy-tailored” edge to your wardrobe this Summer ‘12!

Color: The Csquared 2012 Mediterranean Resort Collection lit up the runway with electric colours; parrot greens, oranges and highlighter yellow contrasted with sea blue and green to turquoise, terracotta, raspberry, lemon and pistachio.

This was a move away from the usual greys, as the collection is tastefully awash with statement color in the form of acid and pastel brights. Each look in the collection was created to transport you to the intoxicating red volcanic beaches of Santorini to the seductive sunshine and emerald forests of the Amalfi Coast.

Trends: Keeping with the laid-back but glamorous resort feel of collection, some of the top trends that Csquared showed were: Mediterranean Neutrals, Big Blue (Think Riviera Chic), The Exotic Printed Shirt and Luxe-Sport Formal, perfect for jet-set men who enjoy Cote D’Azur yacht parties.

When asked about the collection, Csquared Menswear Designer, Wayne Govender commented, “Our designs were inspired by people who want to stick out of the crowd, be a little more different, trendier and fashion forward. The theme is about collaborating bold, bright colours and prints with modern and classic tailoring, which creates not only a fascinating catwalk but also exciting new garments that are both accessible and wearable.”  

Csquared is excited to announce that the Csquared 2012 Mediterranean Resort Collection will be available for online purchase in September 2012, on the soon to be launched menswear-only online shopping and style destination ThirtySixMan. ThirtySixMan will offer the style and fashion-conscious South African man a carefully chosen selection of items from an assortment of brands and local designers including Csquared.

The highly buzzed about fashion show and after party was attended by celebrities, TV personalities, fashion heavy-weights and the movers and shakers of the South Africa social media zeitgeist.

Guests were greeted at the door with a chilled bottle of Peroni and treated to a surprise performance by musician Stoan Seate. Celebrities spotted at the Csquared show and after party included Actor and Viyella Heritage ambassador Tumisho Masha, singer Chad Saaiman and former Miss South Africa Cindy Nell among others.

Csquared #TOPSWAG Style Icon 2012 Winner Mvelo Ncube also walked the runway before a decadent red, black and gold Charly’s Bakery cake was bought out, flanked by showstopping models, in honour of Csquared’s 10^th Anniversary.
